HB4 (9006) bulbs have a right angle connector. The data sheet linked on this page https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1867/0873/files/HLG-OS-HB4-STD.pdf is for the 9006XS with a straight connector. 1) Are 9006 and 9006XS identical other than the right angle connector? 2) Ordering your 9006 assures a right angle connector, correct? Thank you
Sorry for any confusion.
9006 Osram Standard bulb we offer, has angled connector. -
Under lifespan what does B3/tc hours mean?
The B3/tc rating is a standardized way to measure the lifespan of automotive light bulbs and is commonly used in the lighting industry, particularly for halogen, HID, and LED bulbs. It provides two different metrics to describe the expected lifespan of the bulb:
B3 (Failure Time):
- B3 indicates the time at which 3% of the bulbs are expected to fail under standardized testing conditions.
- This represents the point where the first small percentage of bulbs have burned out, so it highlights the early failure rate.
tc (Median Lifetime):
- tc (also known as "time to characteristic failure") is the time at which 50% of the bulbs are expected to fail.
- It is the median lifespan of the bulbs, meaning half of the tested bulbs will have failed by this point, while the other half will still be functional.
B3/tc is useful because it provides a more realistic estimate of bulb performance over time compared to just using a single number for lifespan. (e.g.) A bulb rated B3 = 150 hours / tc = 300 hours means 3% of the bulbs fail at 150 hours, but by 300 hours, 50% of the bulbs will have failed. These two values help to understand the expected reliability and longevity of the bulbs.
- B3 → 3% failure point (early lifespan failure).
- tc → 50% failure point (median lifespan).
Manufacturers use this method to present both the initial reliability and the expected median lifespan of automotive bulbs. Finally, the rates are estimates, so there is some degree of differences.
